Find out about your venue

Submitted by Meerkat Motivational Speaker on Thu, 12/04/2008 - 11:24.

Knowing the venue where you’re going to speak and being there early is half the battle. Try to get a feel of the place. Stand on the stage or wherever you are suppose to deliver your speech. Try to visualize your audience listening to your speech. Check out the sound system if necessary, and the availability of audio-visual aids if you need to use any. Being at the venue early will give you some time to prepare and compose yourself. It also gives you time for any last minute adjustments to your speech.

Humour

Submitted by Meerkat Motivational Speaker on Tue, 12/02/2008 - 12:25.

A speaker who lacks a sense of humour gives his audience the impression that he is unreal, inhuman or very conceited. Humour is the characteristic that shows that you are just another human being, and that you have a warm and lively interest in everything that goes on around you. It does not imply that you have the natural ability to tell jokes, though there is nothing to stop you from including a humourous story if fitting. The belly-laugh type of humour has its place, but not here.

Be Enthusiastic

Submitted by Meerkat Motivational Speaker on Tue, 12/02/2008 - 12:20.

From the speaker’s point of view, enthusiasm can best be defined as the outward show of sincerity. It is not shouting and it is not overdramatic speech. It is not waving your arms and leaping about on the stage. It is the way you show belief in your subject. You have to be enthusiastic in your own way. If you happen to have a dynamic personality, it will show up in your brisk and energetic movements incorporating sweeping gestures and a relatively fast rate of speech. Your speech should have plenty of vocal force.

Confidence

In order to appear confident, you must possess three basic prerequisites:
· Knowledge of your subject
· Belief in yourself
· Ability to control nervousness or “stage fright”

"When life throw lemons, make lemonade" appears to be the motto of many motivational speakers.
